I haven’t dropped off the planet!
I have been really busy with my last semester of nursing school, so I haven’t been on here that much. I’ve been doing the normal tests & clinical, but also the extras. I’m networking, updating my résumé, cover letter, references, writing my speech for pinning, looking for a RN position, preparing for my final, preparing for my exit HESI (which our school requires us to get a 950 to be considered a pass), and so much more. I will keep you all updated as I can. Sorry for not posting! I still love you guys!!
I graduate in a month! Ahhhhhh!I’m mentoring two first-semester nursing students (I’m 2nd semester) and it’s making me create all these materials of “DON’T YOU BE LIKE I WAS” pro-tips.
This one is HOW TO SURVIVE NURSING SCHOOL
Almost done….about to sign up for last trimester.
I graduate from nursing school in May 2013…….knock on wood

Nursing classes start up again tomorrow (1-22-13)….
And I have already had an emotional breakdown.
Every clinical course we have to take a 10 question dosage quiz to be sure we know how to convert medications safely. We HAVE to make a 100% on these quizzes, and we have 4 chances to do so. I took my first quiz and made a 90%. That’s pretty good, I just made a silly error with rounding rules. My second test I made an 80%. UGH! I messed up a rounding rule, and a drop factor question. When I looked at my scrap paper, I realized those were STUPID mistakes. I started crying.

(example…… when I did the math for my drop factor question, I had 23.8. I knew to round up to 24 gtt/min. My stupid butt entered 29.) Yeah, I’m that awesome. I finally got the 100% on quiz 3. THANK GOODNESS!!!

Tomorrow will start my journey toward graduation. This is my last semester of nursing school, and I plan on walking across that stage come May!

I have the best study buddy friend, who has turned into more than just a study partner. She and I have been hanging out all break, and it’s great!
Here is Beth and I getting ready to ice skate (December 2012).

This semester I am taking Nursing Management, Adult Health 2, and Adult Health 2 Clinical. The clinical element will take place in the ICU at a local hospital. I’M SO EXCITED!!!

I’m ready to knock this semester out, pass my exit HESI, pass my NCLEX, and get a job!

Good luck to everyone starting their semesters!
HOLLA!!
I wish my nursing instructors followed this rule…..

Pediatric Nursing Update…..
I had another test yesterday (11-15-12) at school, and I made an 86%!!! That’s a freaking B!! I’m so excited!

I have been studying my ass off, and it seems my grade is reflecting my hard work.

It’s funny because there are some nursing students who tease me because I study so much. Guess what…….they didn’t do well on this test!! I know what I have to do to graduate May 2013 and become an RN.

I’m going to keep on keeping on, because apparently I’m doing something right!!

HOLLA!!!!
First pediatric nursing test is this morning……..
My anxiety is pretty high. I’ve heard that the Peds instructor is pretty relentless with testing. I have studied so much for this unit test that I’m dreaming of the material. Ugh….Not exactly the sweet dreams I had in mind. =P

Getting invited to a birthday party, baby shower, bridal shower, etc. while in nursing school…

Who has time to party when there is studying to do?!?!?
I have turned down so many baby showers and parties recently. I feel bad, but I know I need to study. A party isn’t going to get me through nursing school.
Studying Pediatric Nursing Today
Exhausted, but I have to stay ahead of my instructor. She doesn’t provide her power points, and it’s not like they would help that much.
Today, I’m going to finish up milestones. W00T (not really). Once you get past the first year, learning the milestones is pretty easy.

I have to also be familiar with what toys/games would be appropriate for each age group.

There is a really great web page that recommends toys for age groups. It’s called Ebeanstalk. You can check it out HERE.
So here I go……..
